Design/Build Crew Manager—The Native Design Group LLC

Lead high-end outdoor construction and build a crew that can deliver it.

Full-time field leadership | Tucson, AZ | 50+ hours per week | $27–$32/hour

You’ll lead the people and field execution behind high-end residential design/build projects. The goal is straightforward: train a capable crew, keep the work moving every day, protect the client’s property, and help put at least $100,000 of quality work in the ground each month.

Is this you?

You know how to build, not just talk about building. You have strong masonry and hardscape experience, understand the realities of irrigation and low voltage, can identify and work with plants, and know how artificial turf should be installed. You take pride in the finished result and can build a team around safety, craftsmanship, communication, and ownership.

The work

You’ll turn project plans into a clear daily field plan, organize labor and materials, lead the crew through construction phases, and check the work before it is called complete. You’ll work ahead on tools, equipment, materials, and subcontractor needs so the crew is not waiting on preventable problems.

You’ll also coach people. This is not a lead-installer role where you simply do the hardest work yourself. You’ll set the standard, teach the standard, and hold the crew accountable to it.

What success looks like

• The Design/Build division puts at least $100,000 of work in the ground each month.

• The crew has a clear plan and produces quality work every day, with blockers raised early.

• High-end residential work is built safely, cleanly, and to the design intent, with rework and punch-list issues actively prevented.

Where it goes

As you prove consistent production leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to develop people, the path can expand toward larger project-phase ownership, Design/Build Production Lead, Project Manager, or broader operations leadership as the business grows and the need exists.

1. Maintenance Crew Leader

Full-time field leadership | Tucson, AZ service area

About the role

The Maintenance Crew Leader leads the daily work of a maintenance crew and makes sure the team leaves prepared, works safely, protects client property, and finishes each property to The Native Design Group standard.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can organize people, set a clear plan, coach in the field, and communicate issues before they become missed work, rework, or customer frustration.

Why we are hiring

Our Maintenance division needs stronger day-to-day field leadership as we grow. This position gives the crew a clear point of ownership, improves consistency across recurring properties, and creates room for the company to add maintenance capacity without lowering quality.

What you will do

• Lead morning rollout, job assignments, safety checks, and daily production.

• Confirm trucks, trailers, tools, PPE, water, materials, and job information are ready.

• Direct and perform landscape maintenance work such as pruning, bed care, weed control, cleanup, seasonal work, and basic irrigation observation.

• Monitor workmanship, pace, property protection, cleanup, and client-facing professionalism.

• Coach technicians on safe work habits, tool care, quality standards, and efficient production.

• Raise missing materials, equipment problems, scope questions, client concerns, and safety issues early.

• Check work before it is called complete and prevent avoidable rework.

• Complete required field updates, photos, notes, and end-of-day communication.

• Someone with prior landscape maintenance experience and the ability to lead a small crew.

2. Maintenance Technician Level 1

Full-time entry-level field position | Tucson, AZ service area

About the role

The Maintenance Technician Level 1 is an entry-level field position for someone who wants to learn professional landscape maintenance and build a career in the landscape industry.

You will work alongside experienced teammates to care for client properties, learn the company's standards, and develop the habits that lead to more responsibility over time.

We are building a stronger Maintenance team and a real development path from technician to crew leader. This role adds dependable field capacity now while giving a motivated person the training and experience needed to grow.

What you will do

• Support recurring landscape maintenance at residential properties.

• Assist with pruning, weeding, blowing, raking, bed care, cleanup, seasonal work, and basic irrigation observations.

• Load, unload, clean, and care for tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.

• Follow daily assignments, safety expectations, PPE requirements, and direction from the Crew Leader.

• Protect client property, plants, hardscape, gates, vehicles, and finished areas.

• Keep the jobsite and truck organized and professional.

• Report broken tools, hazards, property damage, missing materials, or questions immediately.

• Learn how to recognize quality work and complete tasks without cutting corners.

3. Design/Build Leadman

Full-time field leadership position | Tucson, AZ service area

About the role

The Design/Build Leadman helps turn high-end residential landscape plans into organized, safe, high-quality field work. This is a hands-on lead position for someone who can work alongside the crew while also setting the pace, protecting the standard, and helping the crew stay ahead of problems.

The Leadman supports the Design/Build leader by organizing daily tasks, coaching technicians, checking quality, and communicating labor, material, equipment, and scope issues early.

Why we are hiring

Our Design/Build division is growing and needs another layer of dependable field leadership between the crew and the division leader. This position helps us move more work through the field, protect craftsmanship, and develop the next generation of crew leaders without relying on one person to carry every daily decision.

What you will do

• Help translate plans, scope, and priorities into a clear daily field plan.

• Lead task assignments and sequencing within the approved project scope.

• Work hands-on in demolition, excavation, base preparation, hardscape, planting, irrigation, lighting, turf, cleanup, and punch work as needed.

• Support quality checks for layout, grades, drainage, materials, finishes, and client-property protection.

• Keep the crew organized, productive, and prepared for the next phase of work.

• Help maintain a 48–72 hour look-ahead for labor, materials, tools, equipment, and site constraints.

• Coach technicians in safe work habits, installation standards, tool care, and jobsite organization.

• Raise scope changes, missing resources, delays, damage, quality risks, and client questions early.

• Support daily safety communication and stop unsafe work when necessary.

• Complete field updates, photos, progress notes, and end-of-day communication.

Who we would like to hire

• Someone with solid landscape construction or design/build experience and the judgment to lead from the field.

• A person with useful experience in hardscape or masonry; irrigation, low voltage, planting, grading, drainage, or artificial turf experience is a strong plus.

• Someone who can read a plan or scope, think through the order of operations, and ask good questions before work begins.

• A calm, direct communicator who can coach others and keep the crew moving without sacrificing safety or quality.

4. Design/Build Technician

Full-time field position | Tucson, AZ service area

About the role

The Design/Build Technician performs and learns the hands-on work required to build high-quality outdoor environments. You will work with experienced field leaders on residential landscape construction projects and develop practical skills across multiple phases of work.

This role is for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, wants to learn, and understands that the quality of the finished property matters as much as getting the work done.

We are adding Design/Build production capacity so our field leaders can keep projects moving while maintaining high standards for safety, craftsmanship, and client experience. This position also creates a stronger bench of technicians who can grow into leadman and crew leader roles.

What you will do

• Assist with demolition, excavation, grading, base preparation, drainage, irrigation, low voltage, hardscape, planting, turf, cleanup, and punch work.

• Use hand tools, power tools, compact equipment, and materials safely as trained.

• Follow plans, scope, layout instructions, and direction from the Leadman or Crew Leader.

• Measure, stage, move, install, and protect materials correctly.

• Help maintain clean, organized, safe jobsites and vehicles.

• Protect existing plants, hardscape, structures, gates, vehicles, and finished work.

• Ask questions before guessing when a task, plan, or condition is unclear.

• Report hazards, damaged materials, broken tools, missing resources, and scope concerns immediately.

• Build skill through repetition, coaching, and consistent attention to quality.
